Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Sell Landmark!

Why don't HAL sell off Landmark, it has less and less relevance to their core business and was probably a dumb buy in the first place.

It would need figuring how to finance the sell-off, but it would be an attractive company in its own right and selling would probably have a positive impact on HAL stock price.

I'm sure HAL would be more than happy to get rid of Landmark if somebody was willing to buy us. Unfortunately, everybody in industry knows that our software is unstable and unperformant.

We used to be number 1 but now we are so far behind Petrel that we will never catch up. The only reason we have the clients we do is because all their well data is in our just as buggy OpenWorks Database.

Nags and his gaggle of overpaid taxi drivers have ruined this company. HAL would be much better off laying off 90% of the staff and putting everything in maintenance.

Sell Sperry please... HAL business model never suited heavily investing in Technology Development like SLB does.

There was a time Landmark was top notch, til brown-nosed monkeys from 1/2 of the world brought their 2 dollars/hr PhD in and destroyed it. Ask top monkey bald head Nag how did he planned pack Landmark software and delivery to customers... ;-)

yes, then if the rumors that Schlum are considering divesting WesternGeco are true, then HAL divesting Landmark could be a runner. Both co's getting back to their real oilfield services roots and cutting out the froth.
