Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Layoffs must be about over? This forum has really died off lately. Are we out of the slump?

One thing is for sure, revenue continues to fall, can't hide from that fact. And with Oil falling back down I will guess that Q3 will break the backs of many more. Companies can't endure being in the red for too many Qtrs in a row.

NAM had been laying random 1-2 people (more) since January-feb. laying off Acct managers but hiring new replacements (cheaper?) guys who don't know anything

I believe this will keep happening until "fully adjusted" to $50/bbl

Yea, I was thinking the same thing. Its kinda quiet around here lately. My group went from 40 to 8 employees in a year. The only thing left will be furloughs. Unless they plan to layoff some more.. Hopefully when PTC moves in, they will have some open positions because alot of people quit rather then move to Sugarland campus.

Q2 has finished.. no need to cut anymore yet.. maybe as we get closer to the end of Q3. HQ has finally realized the stress this is causing current employees so time to take a break... plus its summer... everyone on vacation

Really??? There's no one else to layoff. Next it will be shutdowns and mergers. Then the next round of layoffs will happen due to overlap.
