If you weren't a field hand first at Sperry

If you weren't a field hand first, you shouldn't have a desk job at Sperry. You shouldn't be managing camps, you shouldn't be in R&D and you shouldn't be running corporate.

It is Sperry's field hand reputation why sperry kicked assI the past.

People are your best asset. Not nerdy college degrees. F'ing professionals.

I do not condone that field hands actions, but there are two sides to every story. If you started off as being arrogant or what type of personality conflicts were involved we will never know..... But I have been around for 27 years, and have a college education, where I am differant is that I do not flaunt my degree. I work side by side with any field hand, most do not even know that I have been to college. It's all about the delivery and first impression that was established.

I do know that the college grads definately have some major issues....... There are a few that seem at first to be ok, but once they get ruined by their peers, they get ruined.

After I graduated and begun work, I was assigned under an old "field hand". Instead of teaching me what he knew, he was more interested in showing off all the things he knew instead. Things he was "surprised" we didn't learn in school. Obviously not teaching me and showing everyone he was better than me was his main objective moving forward. If any of you "old field hand" wants to give a grad like me a job, I'm willing to him out your ego trip.

good point when we are talking B's and they still don't give a s h i t, well, we are doomed to fail, because nothing much matters after that..... So who really gives a rat f u c k if management allows a bunch of college brat sh--s f u c k off all of our R & S.....

All I got to say is three point five. Man that's a lot of dough, and the guy is still in charge.

that was a prerequisite 20 plus years ago.... Depending on the position, most if not all college boys and girls spent several years in the field before given an office.....

As for the field hands earning a management position, depending on the position, experienced field hands made and still make excellent managers.

It is stupid, but it has been common practice for the past 20 years to bring college boys and girls fresh out of college and allowed to make million dollar decisions for projects, facilities and PSL's.

Look at the new Casing Equipment CoE that opens three years ago, these idiots spent over $250,000,000.00......they didn't have a clue what they were doing but the mfg senior VP Tony Wham and his management team continued to allow them to throw this money into a failing business that now is out of business......l it is a shame and a joke that this is allowed. And this practice continues.

This suggestion is not a bad idea. And no not all field hands are destined for office, some will go on to become valuable people in the field. But, as suggested, it may be of great benefit for any out of school grad or future desk jockey engineer to put in a 2 to 3 year field applications position to actually learn the business and equipment. Hell, flush 'em now and start over. Honestly, it would be stupid to do something like bring in a fancy new graduate right out of school with a fancy degree with a lot of letters and put them on a working tour of the facilities before putting them in a fancy position like VP or something. Unless of course there was a need to fill some kinda quota or another.

Oh please. It's not a dichotomy. You need people from various walks of life.

What a narrow minded view.

Skilled field hands definately qualifies them for office and management positions.

It was not too long ago there were very few college grads running business units. The field hands are what made all of these companies great!!!!

The college grads that were running and held management positions actually went directly to the field right out of college to learn the business from the field hands.

It wasn't until the past 20 years or so, where the market is flooded with these college grads.

The differance between the college degree grads 20 plus years ago and the one today is that 20 plus years ago: they started in the field, they had integrity, they knew how to treat their subordinates and they had commen since and cared.

This new breed of college grads that are given these management positions now are a bunch of spoiled brat asspunk kids that either just moved out of mommy and daddy's house or still live with them, they have the entitlement attitude, they think they are better and smarter, they have no common sense, don't know how to talk to or treat people and all they are is educated idiots. College doesn't teach the good moral values no longer. They teach liberal views and very little on curriculum.

We have seen all great companies that were built on the brilliant minds and hard work of the American working man and field hands.

Look at the statistics, it all started when the market was flooded with these educated idiots for the past 20 years.

The oil patch always had the ups and downs based on the global market and demands, as is the case today.

But, we have all witnessed the downfall of our great companies for the past 20 years at the hands of these arrigont, educated idiots!!!!!!

LOL I have known DDs that could barely read.

Skills that make a good field hand do not necessarily qualify them to work in an important position in the office.
