This is a management team that has struggled with the basics of retailing: the stores are expensive to build and operate and the merchandise, while compelling, is not competitively priced.
Surprise ! Surprise ! Surprise ! Not. I experienced the lack of basic retailing know how from the management team.
This was easy to call - all of the big box hot shots came in and were going to "redo" what was "wrong" with Cabela's - didn't take long for Tommy and his henchman to mess this all up, did it. They new it all - yep, they sure did and now the company, the town and so many wonderful people who gave everything they had to the once get company are having to pay the price for Tommy's f troop. Some of the idiots are gone, Brian, Scott to name a few, still on payroll of course - and now a building addition that will be a bowling alley along with all of the buildout on the other properties that are now throw aways .... unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable and what, Tomy is on the Best Buy board - it is like Obama - the ship is boring and he is in Africa - incredible to watch from afar. And the talk of privatization - are you kidding me - they can't set this ship straight with other peoples money and now they are going to bring back the glory years by going private so no one will know how terrible they are doing and yet they continue with stores - this has got to be one for the books. I wish all of the great employees the best - it is a train wreck and little tommy has his clouded spectacles on, laughing his way to more money.
Did not surprise me in the least bit. I thought that in just about every meeting I sat in. Several head scratching moments.
I have to admit, that was pretty funny when I read that. Knee jerk reactions to margin and sales, week to week if not day to day. Not to mention countless other actions based on impulse and no real common sense.
