Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Toxic Environment

Cisco is responsible for creating the toxic environment where people wonder what the package is going to be. What else are they left to wonder about? Cisco has decided that it is ok to run a business that purchases companies and then executes a major lr 2 years later to cover the cost. Why this is not viewed as negative social impact is beyond me, especially with such strong cash flow. Who is impacted is not in control of the employee....especially under the "people deal". So again what else are employees left to wonder about other than "what is the package"?

Regarding the package… Someone in another thread commented negatively about people who were wondering what the package is. But I believe that Cisco has created a culture where wanting to understand the package is a foregone conclusion because of the frequent layoffs. The way Cisco conducts these things is reprehensible, because there's really no rhyme or reason to it, and the people deal is just an excuse for arbitrary "measurements" so that employees can be weeded out more easily. In fact, I would recommend to anyone even considering working at Cisco to negotiate their exit package before they even accept a job there if at all possible.

Screw the Cisco "family" -- we need to keep our $60+B overseas lest the government try to tax it. That's 94% of our cash holdings, btw. We can always borrow $$ at cheap interest rates for share buybacks to further enrich our leadership.
