Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Well they finally are stating to admit there is a problem

Apparently at least one of the local news outlets in Sidney is NOT afraid to print the truth

The greed and Nepotism was implied. A lot of people familiar with the happenings understand that the relationship with Cabela's and Sidney was guarded by management at Cabelas or the city would not have supported and started that stupid new corp office and the overpriced housing development. Its being renamed to Boondoggle pasture is what I heard. The execs knew the roof was about to cave in and kept smiling with the city. They found that BS made for good cover scent in pursuit of the stinking truth.

I know dozens of people who want to leave Sidney but are stuck until management discloses the crappy deal they put together and tries to put lipstick on the pig for everyone. Well Good luck with that. Please leave something for the town to rebuild with like the Cabela's museum house downtown. That will bring in a lot of tourists once the egg and rotten veggies are cleaned off from all the locals venting.

the mismanagement mentioned in the original posting contributed greatly to the situation at hand. Dare i say it was the start of it in Sidney possible. To call the principal poster a special kind of special stupid tends the lead me to believe either you are a armchair ceo, or one of those i the elite of Sidney perhaps. Or just maybe a troll with nothing better to do.

Granted the exit of several other business has not helped the situation, Not a justification to belittle one who has a different point of view and opinion than yours just the same.

"Interest rates are low".

Know where else interest rates are low? Detroit. How about Gillette, WY? Probably low there, too.

Neither are locations any of us should be interested in investing in. Not right now. Low interest can be offered by banks to try to inspire people to take out loans - and why wouldn't they? Their options are to not lend any money, dry up and disappear - OR - to inherit property they don't want by way of foreclosure.

So, DUH - there will be low interest lending available.

What will come next? Probably some government promoted or subsidized housing/incentive programs. Spiffs from the county and the state to inspire purchases to keep moving through so the home values don't drop. If they do - reduced tax revenue all around. Drop in sales tax. Drop in property tax. Less government services. Less government employees.

When the decisions of one employer in the community could result in a $200,000 house being valued at $40,000 almost overnight - "low interest" is probably not enough to make a real estate purchase a sound investment.

Why didn't the reporter state how many people were let go from Cabela's and the other companies that closed. The number of houses for sale is not all TE's fault. I might be wrong but I think the mayor also has his house for sale. Does anyone know exactly how many people were let go from all companies ?

Those sh--ty houses with unfinished basements and unfenced yards weren't worth $226,000 anyway. Everyone in Sidney seems to think if you work at corporate you've got money coming out your butthole. Not the case. Good riddance to those building plans and their overpriced garbage!

Where in that story did you get ANY reference to mismanagement, greed, nepotism..it's a story about the housing market in Sidney. Basically saying that there are 200 houses for sale. "The uncertainty of cabelas" "the price of building materials". The other properties in Wyoming etc are experiencing the same thing.. Didn't place blame .. Didn't accuse.. Just a simple story. You are a special kind of stupid.
