Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

LR

Look, they're going to lay people off. That's not going to change.

But what the managers can control is what they say in the layoff meeting. What words they use. What their body language says. The message should be, "we really value your contributions. honestly. and we're really sorry to do this. it's only b/c we have to. believe it or not, this is really hard on us."

My managers were the opposite: cold, glared at me, made it sound like it was my fault. Never once mentioned that every single written review I ever got was above target. Seized my badge, kicked me out onto the sidewalk. That's what I'm asking management to not let happen to anyone again.

Just because managers have a script doesn't mean they all adhere to it perfectly... My manager also delivered the news in a way that implied it was my fault - despite the fact that I've been a top performer for years. She had never identified any "areas for improvement" and my stakeholders were thrilled with my work.

My manager and I had always gotten along well - until she notified me that my "position had been eliminated". She treated me horribly after that, going so far as trying to sabotage my chances of getting another job before my 2 week window was up. The best part, though - when she realized the other group was going to hire me after all she suddenly became SUPER nice (going so far as to text me "good luck" messages when she found out I had my final interviews). So the joke was on her, and I'm pretty sure there is a special place in hell for people who treat their employees that way.

Actually they cannot. Managers are given a script they need to follow to the letter that is carefully vetted by HR and legal to minimize the likelihood that they will say something that could come back to bite them in court.

When you have a person in charge who has no regards for students satisfaction and who does not focus on her staff and only cares about a cold and fearful campus culture, this is what the results will be. She fires the people who have the proven skills to run all 3 of her schools and continues to manage by intimatdation. I don't understand why this company allows her to be in charge. She has fired or layer off anyone who she feels threatened by. She is the worst so call leader in have ever met. People walk around her campus in Southfield MI, scared to speak to each other because they fear they will be fired. How she got this job is beyond me, but she's losing 30 students a month, and firing qualified staff, replacing them with unqualified staff. She stays in her office all day, never coming out to make herself approachable to staff or students. Such an injustice being done at all of her schools at the students expense. She has the nerve to say, Students experience comes first, such a joke.

There needs to be a major change, not with staff or students, with her. How many students, and staff do we have to lose before this company looks at the management at the top!!!!!!!!!

Bro. You've been away. No more ratings. So your problem doesn't exist anymore.
