Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Could our CEO be replaced by an algorithm and save money?

You know, when the headcount to revenue gets to a set level either fire or hire

When results go down blame the market and when the market goes up take full credit for a great strategy

Get the consultants to work up the work flow and decision rules for a CEO in Intouch and away we go and save the company 18 million per year and lay off the person who is currently our most expensive employee

A monkey could do a much better job and could be paid with a few bananas every day unlike our pretentious ineffective CEO who demands millions

We are already managed by computer algorithms. Didn't you notice?

as an IT guy in Schlumberger this is exactly what we are working on except its for our segment managers who will be replaced with a new "thinking intelligent" computer assuming of course t works in the pilot we are running. By digitizing the financial results, the QHSE performance data, personnel performance and some other data reports we can run the company digitally, reduce headcount further and deliver more cash to the shareholders

The savings for the company are huge and the future is nearer than you think

This is the Schlumberger way. Our CEO should not be different than any other employee and move him on every two years, cut his benefits and put him on gardening leave. The algorithm can manage the company quite easily and it keeps us in the cutting edge of technology by being the first company to have a digital CEO and we can give our young engineers promotion prospects they won't get anywhere else

Great idea! Set up a two year CEO training program and we can have a slew of younger cheaper "CEOs to be" that could easily take his place when the algorithm says so. Isn't that how it works everywhere else in SLB.
