Cisco so far has refused to comment on media reports. Why are they not denying those media reports. It is a PR disaster for Cisco. I have not seen a single Cisco HR, PR, Media Spokesperson deny it on any social media site. WHY? At least Cisco can come out and state that the number is incorrect / over blown - come on Cisco say something if you are clean.

Cisco itself leaked the rumor about the 14,000 number... That way, when today announced it was just 5,500, then it was not so severe. Or perhaps the remaining 8,000 are red badges. Who know. But the fact Cisco did not comment means that was part of the plan. In any case, Cisco Brand is destroyed... long time ago...
CRN - you disgusting POS’s!! You used this as a marketing ploy, click-bait...bet you chase ambulances as well or have midnight commercials offering attorney services with no up-front costs. You are bottom feeders and should be held liable for spreading more lies on the internet. Have some integrity and stop being a douche!
Former Cisco employee here. Layoffs are herpes to Cisco. Minor flare-ups periodically and reliably year after year with major flare-up every 2-3 years. They will never go away. It is part of the DNA now. But, there is hope. Life is much better after Cisco.
The quiet period means you cannot speak about anything that is not publicly known. I would say that the news of 14,000 is publicly known since it is all over the news. Just sayin'.
These things needs to be announced to shareholders after market close. That's why.
Notice that the stock is at a nine-year high, despite (or because of?) the "rumors." It's far from a PR disaster. . if you're a stockholder.
Quiet period before earning. No comments are allowed from Cisco employees (that includes us).
