Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Less than 24 hours before the Purge- take day off.

It's hard to concentrate because the finance and hr snake about to unleash their layoff plan. Executive managers (cfo, c-suit, etc) have proved for the last 5 years they can not plan or execute to a plan so they execute people. If they were so good at identifying "market transition" the cisco would not be in this mess. There is no plan, no leadership, only cut.

Next week, cisco will fly a bunch of sales donkeys to las vegas to hear rah-rah speeches to feed them BS on innovation, never better time to make money at cisco while help customer outcomes. What Joke! Meanwhile, engineering has little budget to do anything but pretend we innovate in power point. Those left behind will have some happiness but some guilt that they hr and finance monkeys will still look to kill more people around december and again in 2017. it's like sick video game.

Agree. Know people who were laid off by Intel and it was cruel and unusual punishment. Complete lack of respect for those affected. The frustrating thing about Cisco is the number of long-timers in management positions who can't make the right change happen and keep the layoff cycle spinning. Favoritism and cronyism is alive and well, especially when there's a complete lack of accountability. Many managers and execs are still focused on a deliverables checklist rather than measurable outcomes.

Cisco has been a great place to work. The annual and semi-annual LRs are devastating and depressing for everyone, but they are at least done with dignity. Think about how major companies in industrial sectors handle cuts....they call a team meeting and you walk in to find for the first time that everyone in the room is being laid off and then you're walked out on the spot...they will ship your stuff to you "later."

The company offers a generous package. Is it ever enough when it's you - of course not, but it's far better than many, if not most companies.

I am glad I left Cisco 7 years ago, it is getting worse every year so I have heard.
