It's really sad to look at all of the people genuinely concerned about being laid off when there are those, like me, who know we should be and will not. Why? Because our execs chose to lay off senior people with a lot of great classic Cisco hw/sw experience who happened to work out of a smaller office or support products in a smaller office.
Instead of chopping the people who know what they are doing and actually ok with the work they keep people who were forced into roles they don't want and paid less. However, the smart ones are going to leave anyways because smart people want interesting and challenging work, not just here for a paycheck.
Wishing everyone LR'd the best, a high five to the people choosing to leave on their own terms, and condolences to the people staying at Cisco to deal with this every few months.
