Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Thanks Paal K.

When I got out of college and came to this company, oil price was around $40 bucks. 2 weeks after I started, the company announced its first round of lay-offs. Since then, every day when I go to work, I tell myself "this could be your last day at SLB". If nothing happens after 1 - 2 pm, then that means my job will stay for one more day. It has been 1 1/2 years and I am still with the company. Thanks Paal!!

And here we are, friday pot luck is upon folks. are you excited, i know i am, i can barely sit still. PK day PK day, hey every body it's PK dayyyyyy. Unfortunately due to some last minute reductions we've lost some offerings such as beef tips with rice, the turnip greens, Bbq brisket, sauerkraut and turkey. But still we have hot n sour, sweet n sour, tandoor chicken, and curry chicken in addition to many others. we should offer best wishes to our recently severed former co-workers. Now, as a reminder, lets try to stagger arrival times to prevent long lines and standing groups of you people. and additionally, we would like to ask that manufacturing come in last as so many times you fine people make the additional effort to pack take home plates and collect leftovers to take home, and no there's nothing wrong with that , just sayin, so put on your best foot forward and come on down, pk day pk day hey! every body!! it's pk dayyyyy,

PK appreciation day is gaining momentum, lots of buzz and excitement. Who knew? So, after some spoke up with suggestions, we are searching for a Karaoke machine to liven up the event. If anyone has one or can borrow one for the day we would sure like to include it in the festivities. See ya' soon.

I retired (early) after years witnessing nonsense, stupidity, arrogance, etc. The best feeling is to know that these people mean nothing, nada, nil, zero, zip to me. They did not mean much when I was there neither:)

Next Friday at the Sugar Land location our dept will be hosting a pot luck lunch in honor of our boy PK. Yeah, it's kinda like a PK Pot Luck Appreciation Day. So bring a covered dish if you can and we will stay in for lunch that day. The manager here has offered to spring for plates, utensils, cups, napkins, ice and drinks. You may want to bring a chair. We are all just so happy to still have our jobs this will be a great time to share our happiness and revel in our own good company. Myself, i'm bring my classic green bean casserole. Quite tasty and easy to make. I like it, but pot lucks are the only time I ever take to prepare it. So hey, we need vegetables, entrees, breads desserts, sausages, pickles, roast beef hell you decide. See you then.

Depends on who you know, not what you know.

Some are underpaid used & abused & then laid off 1st .

Some are overpaid & brag that they are not laid off ... to other employees that are .

Proof : You can see their posts on this web site....Cause they only have time to worry about their immage & don't do anything anyway.

I am still around after 17 years, the company does not owe me anything and i know i can be asked to leave at any time, if it happens then they need to give me what was agreed on in the contract, nothing more, then i will move on and not sit on a computer and talk sh-- about the company that has given me a lot over the past.

Some very bitter people around.

you all are sorry whiners - nothing was ever promised and your wage is what you can expect given your talents, skills and abilities. If you think you deserve more, by all means please go. Your attitude and entitlement are a drag to the rest. I have been around 20 yrs and seen 5 downturns - good people go but a lot of slackers and mediocre head out the door as well. I have always thought that today could be my last, but have as well thought that I can only work hard and bring real value each and every day. I am owed nothing more than what my agreed pay is - if I think I can do better or am not treated fairly, then time for me to go as well. To all the trolls, just get on with your life and do not worry about what other people get paid -when you become a large shareholder, than you can make those decisions.
