I am with TCS for the last 4 years. I am just at the designation of SE and about to become an ITA(and after 3 years down the line I will be an AST).
People with designation of AST and above are being fired because there productivity is not according to the salary package they are having right now. For the last 4 years I have an strong feeling that companies like TCS has no work ethics and how they play with the life of an employee here is an example :

My friend was enthusiastic about all the coding stuff.

He has developed some good products in the college time as well but the ruler of the life in TCS is RMG doesn't give a damn to this thing and landed him in a Testing project.

Again he tried hard but got a D band(the lowest rating because he was fresher). They asked him to do more.

After 4 years he was a testing guy and working fine.

after 6 years they released him from the project stating financial facts of the project.

Now RMG again comes in a picture and bluntly told him that there is no project for manual testing.
So Its a strategy of this company to not utilise their resources according to there talent because it will make there employee a way better than there existing employees(important to note here RMG has good connection with Managers). Now that employee is of no use for the company and fired.
