Slb is good place over all, locally department is full of sfit. The most commony phrase u will hear in slb is " i dont know nobody in slb, i have skill they need, yah yah blah blah. Know nobody but dady , uncle ,nephew, wife.... even my neighbor dog pee here some time. Work for them 15 year, suddenly 1 manager thatnjot even 1 year at the plant come to me and say u r under performance. That fcker cant ecen tell what is box and wrench look like.

That's a great attitude to have. They cut me loose late last year and I was back at work, in a new industry, halfway across the world within 8 weeks. Just keep your mind open and don't be afraid to say yes to something completely different!
Depends how long it takes you to find new professional work.

You might consider doing some reading my friend to understand the economics behind free trade and how it is affected by monopolies like OPEC or mainly Saudi Arabia now that OPEC is falling apart. tradingeconomics.com is a good site to look at. It shows many years of oil production data from Saudi Arabia. If you look at the data going back for 20 to 30 years you will see a direct correlation of how the output of Saudi Arabia correlates directly with crashing world economies. This my friend is what the data says! It has nothing to do with my opinion or prejudice. The data kind of makes you wonder how all of a sudden Saudi Arabia has all this extra capacity now that there is competition from other countries since in the past the prices were driven up because there was just not enough oil in the world or so we were led to believe.
I am also in the process of reading the Koran now that I have all of this extra time on my hands. I just don't understand how people can kill each other with so much malice - innocent women and children slaughtered in the street for no good reason. I have read so many opinionated things I am going back to the source to attempt to understand.

Just so you know... the downturn was caused by the fracking boom. OPEC members have not really increased their production by much in the last 10 years. US increased their production when fracking was discovered, trying to be the world's top oil producer and ended up flooding the market. It's good to be american, as nothing is ever your fault, and you always blame other people
And yes , the Saudis are evil. Imagine living under the rule of a family with personal jets and gold plated toilet seats. I'd.........do something about that.
Wow! Hey , thank you! I'm going to go for a long motorbike enduro trip to Flin Flon , Manitoba. Nothing like a long good ride to clear the mind , sooth the soul and set the personal compass in a new direction. Camping in Crown land for free and eating my blended nut mix and apples by day with a big slab of cheap steak on a stick at night cooked at a campfire at night with a 6 pack. That's the sprit! SLB was a good place to work (not perfect of course) until our OPEC buddies decided to flood the market with oil. It just shows how the Saudi's have been screwing us for so many years with high prices. Run away from oilfield, it will be down for a few years. The Saudis are not our friends. Good luck to you! You have the right attitude and I am sure you will do well.
