Big Red will overtake MI slot in number 1. Big wins, better and youthful managment team, the young man on top is former MI but good guy and well liked by Baroid and customers. Although recently retired from MI most of us seen this coming the young talent left and went to Baroid and others] c0mpanies. While Guys been worried about turning orange blue and the young guys running baroid worry destroying him and being number 1 .........interesting to see where they take it and how SLB reacts to being knock off the top slot.

Careful with names, my friend. This site has a no name naming policy (check the rules at the bottom). That can get your posts deleted and your IP banned. Happened to me, they nuked all I ever written and blocked my IP.

It wasn't exactly a state secret that the mud business was low margin when SLB bought Smith / M-I. Why couldn't all those superstar managers at SLB see that?

Schlumberger are tired of MI and want to get rid of it because it's a low tech grunt business that's not for a high tech company like SLB with our range of super trained tech managers

We don't need a commodity low margin business like this dragging our margins down that's nobody likes and now we can't even give it away

MI is like a dogs breakfast right now and clients are refusing to work with them so market share is going down and layoffs are going up. Another SLB screw up

When SLB bought Smith Bits they had a meeting with the employees and said "We bought a bit company once before (Reed) and screwed it up. We're not going to do that again". And then proceeded to do exactly that. By the way Smith Bits was number one in the world at the time.

Fluff you, the only management skill SLB brought to MI is 1800's Master-Slave relationaship. Sooner or later, one of the management or their follower will be punished.

MI is still the number one fluids company in the industry and even stronger now that we are part of schlumberger which has given us access to a larger pool of management skills and opportunities to grow the business.

That Guy doesnt understand the mud business and his decision making and logic is one of the poorest I have seen for a long time. He also likes to blame other people when his decisions go wrong. Its time he was changed out or Halliburton is gonna be kicking our butt for a long time to come.

This big GUY also have a nickname of 'Butcher' in MI, if you have a chance for his presentation, you will see what does this nickname mean. Wonder how can he be selected as a manager anyway.

yep.......all due to this Guy down in Houston shooting for goals of laying off everyone under him so he can get a good year end bonus. I'm glad they pushed him out of Bits, he would of destroyed it also.

they lost the focus on the business big time and laid off the guys who really knew the business but being schlumberger they convinced themselves it was all in the best interests of the company and the downward spiral began. Its a classic case of a big corporation destroying value for shareholders and investors

Their mud is about the same quality, except cheaper. Bad times call for cheaper services.
