Thread regarding Kmart layoffs

Difference between a Kmart and a Sears store liquidation?

I do not know what a Sears store closing is like but I have worked at a Kmart one. Is there any difference between either liquidation. Are things done differently done at Sears than Kmart? Yes, I am an idiot but for the time being I might take a job at a Sears store near me just for the income while I find something else. I have already been through a Kmart shutdown. So I am prepared if I have to go through it again.

FYI: Does anyone know truthfully can you work at both banners? Like work 25hrs a week at Sears and 15 at Kmart. I have heard conflicting answers. What is correct? Since your on two different payroll systems at two different stores if you work a combined 40 hour work week between the two. 25/15 is this possible?

Honestly what is correct?

AT my store if they schedule me outside my availability I DO NOT work it. Not my problem they are idiots and hit the override buttom, they know what they are doing. You can have limited availability.

Here is what my question is. If you give them the hours you can work and the days you can work and they screw up and schedule you on a day you cannot work. It is not my problem right? They will have to cover that shift? I will have to use an express bus to get to work. That bus runs on a limited schedule. It boils down to the fact that if your HR/SM is willing to work with your schedule right?

You cant be employed by both at the same time according to HR. Besides youd be lucky to get 10 hours at either one if you could as pt. Reason most pt folks are leaving , does not pay to work there. They have money to give certain employees raises but no hours for pt ppl. Do yourself a big favor and look elsewhere.

And what will you do when you are scheduled to work at the same time in both places? At Kmart the new policy is that you have to work the hours they schedule you for. You don't have a say. The only exception they make is high school students during the school year.
