Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

Layoffs occurring as you work today

Today, an entire department was laid off without even a whisper. They are even being forced to apply at the new Outsourced company before they will be eligible to receive any benefits package that was offered to all of those laid off before, and that's only if they are NOT hired at the new outsourced company. If they are hired, they will receive NO benefits package. Some of those employees have been with this sh--hole of a company for over 12 years. Davey and the rest of his elitist bigwig a--holes in management can kiss the south end of a north facing jackass. You have turned this company into your own slush fund so that you can afford your multimillion dollar mansions and country club memberships at Oak Tree. Karma is a b--ch though motherfuckers, as what you do to others will come back to you tenfold. Hang on b--ches it's going to be a bumpy as ride for you.

Oil is at $40 a barrel the company has over 8 million in debt, and the stock price hasn't broken ten bucks for god knows how long. Wake up and smell the damn coffee, they arnt letting people go because they s--- at their jobs... They already did that last fall.. They're letting people go simply because well... That's business. Grow a pair and move on with your life.

"With continued improvements in our operating expenses (lie) and the disposition of non-core properties (could not sale them all and come out ahead), we have refined our portfolio to provide a more competitive foundation for Chesapeake (as compared to what, tea in China?). In addition, the application of new technologies (Edge - what a joke), including longer laterals and enhanced completion techniques (recycle what we have been doing for years - nice one), to our extensive undeveloped acreage position (costs more to develop than you can get out of it) provides us with a robust portfolio of development opportunities." - signed - the CEO.

Perhaps he should run for president; very slick!

So with quarter over quarter general and administrative costs remaining flat; all the while, cutting people. Basic math tells you that with less mouths to feed and the number staying the same, some group of people still there are raking in the bucks.

Why would someone dedicate their life to working at a copy center?

Sorry for the typo, that should have read "Douggie and the rest of his elitist bigwig a--holes". I wasn't thinking clearly at the time, but I understand what you are saying. I am not an employee there, but someone very close to me is. She has put her heart and soul into the company only to be treated like crap now. She will be okay but it's the thought that her dedication and service to the company means sh-- to them. She has made the statement to me that she will never work for another energy company and will try and stay away from any large company period. I work for a small company and have over 20 years and even through the toughest time they made sure we were taken care of. We had to take a cut in pay for several years but we understood but that is not even an option for these bigwig a--holes. They could care less about you are anyone else, they only care about their overlord investors which in turn only care about their profits and not the human cost of their actions.

What do you think is going to happen to "Davey and the rest of his elitist bigwig a--holes"? Here's what's going to happen: They will continue to make more money than the rest of us. They will move without concern or second thought of those that have been displaced by their actions and they will retire with amazing riches and in complete comfort. Karma is a pipe dream for those affected. Karma doesn't affect these people. Move on and stoop to their level. Take jobs based on the compensation and hop from job to job without loyalty to any company. Look at the loyalty they showed you. 12 years got you what? minimum salary growth through COL increases each year and limited skill development because they had you pigeon holed into the task they needed you in. So now you are on the street with limited prospects because you had limited professional development during those 12 years. Who's to blame? Not the company. They used you like the tool they say you as. Take ownership of your life. what skills did you build during that time? How did you make yourself bankable and valuable to the company that they would have over looked you in a RIF? It's easy to be a victim. it is more satisfying to do to them, what they have no problem doing to you. Develop yourself. Make yourself more attractive to an organization. then, when they need you the most, feel the satisfaction of turning in your resignation because another company just offered you a 15% increase and an extra week of vacation to get you on their team. Rinse and repeat until you are the "elitist bigwig a--hole" and let's see if you remember where you came from and how it felt when the bean counters tell you that you need to shave 10% off your FTE budget. What would you do? I'll tell you. You shave 10% off the FTE budget. and you pick the 10% that have been there with little growth or expansion of skillset or return on investment.

Sorry for your situation. Having been there, it s---s. Don't wallow too much. your job now, is to find a job. attack it with the same passion and tenacity as you wrote your rant and you should be fine. you may want to tone back the language though. Best of luck.
