Rumor has it that QCOM pulled the plug on the DSL business (last year's Ikanos acquisition)...layoff notices apparently went out yesterday. Can anyone confirm?

Very stupid
Monday is their last day, sad day...
Don't you understand the strategy? Buy first-tier wireless infrastructure suppliers, SHUT THEM ALL DOWN, then all the money rolls downhill towards wireless systems! Backbone needs are so pathetic that 20th century refurbished BNR telecom hardware can serve that purpose!
Qualcomm has done this before, buying channel 56 just to screw Sprint and Verizon out of valuable bandwidth that would allow them to deploy WiMax or GSM! This is a long-term strategy for them (lobby the government and manipulate the auctions to keep wireless bandwidth shortages in place ...)
what is the package they are offering ?
@IGAfeOA-1wft, Really Funny :)
@odt seems you have IQ of a donkey...
“Qualcomm Atheros and Ikanos have a long history of collaboration in the carrier space and share a common vision for the connected home. Bringing the two companies together enables Qualcomm Atheros to accelerate implementation of its strategy for the connected home, and to move the home gateway forward as a key enabler for new carrier applications and services,” said Omid Tahernia, president and chief executive officer, Ikanos.
So, no LTE toasters?
layoff confirmed for whole team.only minimal support team retained
Maybe QCOM was afraid DSL would be so successful that it would cannibalize the wireless business, as people ditched their 4G LTE phones for laptops with wired connections.
I can confirm and will be reporting this as quickly as I can write it.
what a waste of money and resources! QCA just acquire it last year. This just shows how incompetent of the management
Yes, confirmed. All DSL development and products are stopped, entire team let go. Last date of employment is 22 August. This went done on 1 August.
