One of the biggest for-profit college chains in the country is paving the way for students to take it to court.
Apollo Education Group ( APOL, +0.49% ), the parent company of the University of Phoenix, said Thursday that it will stop including mandatory arbitration clauses in its enrollment agreements. The clauses, which have increasingly become common in everything from credit card agreements to nursing home contracts, make it extremely difficult for consumers who believe they’ve been wronged by a company to take their claims to court.
