Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

May or May Not..............

Are we believing that if we keep quiet and don't say anything negative about the company and keep doing our jobs until the Quad takeover that they will pay us a bonus? It says right on the emails "We may or may not" which to me feels like an out. Requirements? Interview for quad, stay quiet, work, stay in line, etc etc etc.... but even still the severance is not promised.

I will be anxious to see what happens on the 24th when the few people selected for Quad jobs are given their offers and 150+ people sit, wondering what happened to the Quad job they were so sure they would have to sustain their families. How will they possibly keep 150+ people sitting, quiet, behaving, and not speaking badly until August 1 all the while knowing they have no job on August 1? Will June 24 be the real last day, after the "cut list" is announced? Everyone seems to think they had a great interview, but the numbers don't stack in favor of everyone staying employed, folks. I don't understand how they intend to have a dead man walking department function on zero morale, and is that even safe? What if one of the people who have invested their lives into the community goes postal at the news of no Quad job? Hardly seems safe.

My post was in regards to the Creative Department, who have been told they only have jobs until July 31.

What exactly is this in reference to? Cabelas selling out the creative department, corporate or the company as a whole? I am very concerned as I still have really good friends working there that won't tell me anything but hey everything's good, its all rumors nothings going to happen.

I imagine choosing the "may not" option would not help attitudes or stress levels of these doomed employees either.

I hope a few level-headed people remember their second amendment rights in the final days of service especially with word coming in of who will be offered positions. Just incase. Until Cabela's (or any other business wishing to strip you of your rights) provide armed guards, you are ultimately responsible for protecting yourself. Don't let the farmer tell the hens how to guard the henhouse the farmer built inside a wolf's den.

No one will go postal although management will use this to divert attention from the reality of what is really happening, mark my words, there will be police and a bunch of nonsense to further humiliate those that have to leave. What will be present is great sadness for those that have to leave, the families, the houses, the friends. The chicken tommy will be gone or hiding in his office. And he will be armed ... Just in case, right. This has all been planned. I really feel for everyone and will not spend another penny with the company.

Pretty sure Cabela's employees can't even conceal carry at work. Training was a joke. Only the bad, pissed off employee will have a gun. Now that's comforting.

We had postal training. But we were told it was AP's idea cooked up to do it. Are you telling us that corporate instituted the training initially? I am not surprised if they did. It is easier to tell us at the store level that the AP person felt we needed the training because that sounds less provocative than Sidney dictating it.

Lawsuits won't bring back loved ones, though. I bet Millner won't be anywhere near those buildings when the ax drops. We can be sure that if there is a risk of postal employees he won't be calculated into it. Another Africa trip perhaps.

It is a really bad deal compounded by the fact that all of upper management has built in a golden parachute yet this crew is left to "make it work". all of the money thrown away on an huge addition, planes, undeserved bonuses and past employees. Who were canned yet still are paid as advisors and add to it a building expansion that will be unused shortly. I really feel for these hard working individuals who have to wait in shame. Great leadership, tommy

Maybe some of the employees are still loyal to the company and want to go down with the sinking ship or believe the kool- aid management is telling them. I would start looking for another job if I worked there. Whatever is going to happen the ball is rolling and you know what happens to stuff at the bottom.

Anyone with any sense at all at the senior manager level and above would have hit the door when this started. The company has been poorly run for the entire time I have worked there. What makes you think they can or even want to "fix" CAB?. I am part time and wonder why anyone would put up with the garbage on a full time basis. The leadership really is as poor as I thought, they don't even know when to quit. There are great jobs out there IF you are qualified stop waiting for CAB to pull it's collective head out and get going.

You posted exactly what I was thinking about someone going postal due to stress. How are the employees going to react when they find out they do not have a job?
