While COP San Juan Basin is industry's worst methane offender, COP SJB is industry's best in reducing methane emissions. Lots more work to do to restore trust in COP values (the worst of times, the best of times)...

Are there going to be consequences for COP?

It is worthy to note that the EPA will give money to employees and ex employees who inform on EPA violations. The compensation can be substantial and destroying records and lying to the EPA is very serious and now leads to jail time.

I have seen many black smoke events but not all get reported to the agencies as required because it's not in their best interest to tell on themselves. Same goes with all the OSHA violations and the VPP curtain ConocoPhillips hides behind.

According to the report, which analyses self reported data to the EPA, the oil and gas industry produced one third of all methane emissions which are 88 times more harmful than carbon dioxide. ConocoPhillips is the largest methane poluter while being the sixth largest natural gas producer.
