As soon as Singapore master the FS2 and have the supply chain needed locally there will be no use for Arbroath manufacturing within the Halliburton business. Jobs will continue to go in dribs and drabs over the current year and into 2017. Any remaining technology staff will have to take jobs in Aberdeen. This 10% reduction will not be the last no matter what market conditions are like. This is the beginning of the end game

my bad they are going to do it at last bring it on
another audit this week! could we have yet another delay to the announcments !
so singapore just need to master the fs and we are finished! its been how many years and our technology team havent mastered it yet. its not the jobs its the flow of work that will do us in. to much money has been pumped into singapore for the top dogs not to give them work over us no matter if we can do it faster or cheaper. we are all puppets with our strings being pulled by the central manag;ers.
is it safe to come back to work yet ?
Apprentices leave as they don't pay them enough to keep them anyway. They won't accept older guys volunteering due to their long service and how it's cheaper to let them work till retirement than pay them to go now. Great long term planning. If this plant does have a long term future it'll be in no position to take advantage of an upturn. Too many set in their ways too many who will be ready to retire when things pick up. Short term low cost thinking creates a big skills gap. Halliburton should be using this downturn to prepare for the upturn and the changing landscape of the industry and its wider supply chain. Management uwith tunnel vision this won't happen. Their only idea of cost saving is cut OT, cut conti's, cheaper inserts, cheaper coolant, cheaper toilet roll, check feeds & speeds & knock 24 seconds off a pass (in a shop making batches of ones and twos)
Great, so what happens when it picks up? Back to business as usual? How it's always been, what we've always done? Sooner some folk realise this downturn has changed this industry for good the better
I am shocked at these negative vibes, lions led by donkeys is the feeling im getting am I wrong ?
I could name 3 PTL's that should go, one being useless and not even knowing CNC, other being lazy as f---, and the last one doing little jobs like checking your speeds and feeds are correct. PGL who checks your floors are nice and clean should go aswell. Arbroath is doomed, they will pay off all the young guys who are cheap to pay off and leave the plant with dinosaurs, then greet when it picks up and no one is there to cover the dinosaurs. I sure hope the young guys and current apprentices look ahead and see there is better companies that will treat them and train them better.
2 supervision going is a fukin disgrace a glut o useless tossers left, while good machinests take the walk this company's a disgrace especially Arbroath with the worst management ever shame on you foster and his minions
one PTL one PGL my how the grim reaper has decimated the bloated ranks of management, going on this ratio each manager is responsible for 30 overall wearers .
any one want a set of five red overalls hardly been used, some extensive polishing on elbows and arse area, also one seat for sale manufacturers warranty void as max weight has been exceeded on a daily basis.
We'll just have to suck it n see...
Glad you missed me
Before you go stabbing anyone in the back please have s safety moment 1st
ah polish warrior welcome back .
Speak up or forever hold your peace
just been using up my sick days , have I missed anything ?
They'll never close Arbroath not with the senior PGL there...
Nobody confronts those folk cos it's a clique running the plant, so what's the point? They don't listen to reason and all they know is "we've always done it this way" and you wonder why the plant is at risk? They don't know any other way. Place has barely moved on in the last decade
Get out while you can, oil & Gas is finished in Arbroath and Aberdeen will never be the same again either. Sad but inevitable
Automation? Wow. Small jobbing shops down south have been using those probes for the last decade! Open your eyes, the management at Arbroath manufacturing are closing the stable doors but the horse has long gone. Arbroath has no future, not in this downturn, not with this set of management
Watch yer backs
Ach its ah gettin a bitty stabby in here noo an a ill wund is blahin. There'll be blud afore this is ah ower wi mark ma wurds
Time studied parts,High efficiency , TOP machinists, gross hourly rate, EX's .........
Automation, big questions, more digging, lies uncovered, uncomfortable questions from above, RUMMBLED.
Where do we look to cut the fat? Doesn't fat float? REAL COST SAVINGS .
Can honestly say I've never worked with a bigger bunch of two faced back stabbing arseholes than those employed in Arbroath. Suck it up and hand in the car keys and hey, caravan living aint too bad.
If arbroath plant really is on the wind down I think this is sad, I personally will be ok,it will be a big loss for our home town, some of our employees should be ashamed of the way they have conducted themselves in the past few years though , bitching and back stabbing at every chance they get.
regrets ive got a few but then again to few to mention
And now the end is near and so we face the final curtain
hello mister angry with youre wondering where i have been all these years probably at the same meetings you have been at, and i havent heard any one confront archie or broonie at any of these. plenty bitching around the coffee machine but all smiles and joking with the knobs when you see them. just remeber some of the old boys wanted people sacked so they could stay on contis when the 3 shifts were mentioned. as an aside strange how broonies brother in law is getting training on lube valves so he can go to nigeria as an expert tester when the redundancys are on , someone not worrying about his job then.
Well now huey louie and dewey are in place bring it on
The problem with Arbroath is it's run by muppets and has been for years.
Failed machinists with big egos and no man
management skills whatsoever.
Lazy f---in PTL's who haven't a clue and a senior PGL who never listens to reason.
At the end of the day when Arbroath sinks so do they and not one of them would ever get another job in the position they've got now
This has been happening for years and I wonder where you've been if you didn't understand this. Maybe you were happy to take a back seat and stay quiet not wanting to rock the boat while taking the big salary and thinking a downturn or transferring work to Singapore where there been big investment would never happen. Its all a bit late to complain now and you and our forward thinking leaders (that's a joke) should've been more proactive in turning that trend around.
a great pity that it is arbroath workers training up the singapore guys that are undercutting us,
Amen to that. It's very sad, but also true.
