Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Why are all the team "leaders" and "managers" safe?

We have lost 40% employees in PE NorthBelt center, but all the team leaders and managers are safe. What the F*** is that? Are they untouchable because of their "vision" ?

While I agree with some of the complaints here I would say that the upper management you all claim is immune is that way for a reason. They have taken the extra steps to ensure they are ready for any business environment that happens. You can't fault people for obtaining a higher education so they make themselves more marketable. If you don't like it go back to school and do the same. If you don't want to be expendable make yourself hard to replace.

Arbroath mafia, they're all safe. Reduced headcount by 25-30% yet not a single reduction in management or supervision, no PTL's or PGL's or managers let go, despite the reduction in headcount and orders. That's because they're from Arbroath and they protect each other, promote each other. There's an overtime ban, so what do PTL's have to do? All they ever did was go round the shop with an overtime sheet. Total joke. You could replace some with cardboard cutouts you'd barely notice any difference

WOW, you can tell they don't know anything about Halliburton. People here who work hard to move up are used like a cheap wh--e However if you screw something up or run ghost companys and pay people off with Halliburtons own money you run right up the ladder.

Team leads were made to backstab. They are the employee insiders with friendly talk dancing to other tunes in front of their masters.

Whatever you do never trust a team lead. He will never be a loyal person or a worthy human being.

Sadly, NB PE now has as many managers/leaders as workers.. Perhaps next year you will see more managers/leaders than workers.

Foolish OP. It is standard business practice that when downsizing for the short term, lay off the workers who have no work to do. Keep the management in place so that when business picks up they will be ready to rebuild their teams. (Hopefully downsizing is the time to get rid of poorly performing management too.)

Whine and cry like little girls all you want, the facts of life are that most front line workers are expendable and more easily replaced than a management staff who understands the company culture. Don't like it? Show some initiative next time around and become management. Or move to Europe where business are strangled by unions and government intervention but workers are kings. I understand that airfares are very reasonable right now....

Because Jeff says reduce your work force by 5%. That manager looks around and he doesn't want to see his friends go so he goes to the next manager down and says reduce your work force by 5%. Then you get to the bottom and there is no manager to pass it off on. Here is a free business lesson go to Lowe's and buy an axe. Go find a normal tree and you will find that it is nice and full up top and kind of skinny and bare near the bottom. It's what Halliburton looks like right now. Just start hacking away at the trunk near the ground and see what happens to the tree. Companys should look like a normal pyramid not an upside down one.

In my immediate department we went from 38+ employees, counting 3 team leads and 1 manager, down to 14 people INCLUDING the team leads and manager. There was only one team lead that was qualified to run the show. This person is smart and listens to their employees. The others have no clue of the employee's expertise under them. Except for the one I talk about.

With all that said, this is NOT meant to be a complaint about that. Just telling it like it is.

My issue was that some think that Houston wants to start a new style of Halliburton. Well, all these leaders I mention have over 25 years. SO, that notion does not hols water.

I was part of the layoffs. It DID behoove me on the why's. At this point it may appear that when things pick up in the future, whenever that will be that the leaders know who can do the job or not.

That is the only thing I can come up with.

This is not to be a "I have animosity" towards this. There must of been some rhyme or reason.

I choose to not have issues with Halliburton even though they relied on numbers and not abilities.

Basically, if nothing better comes up, NOTICE I SAID BETTER, I would go back to work tomorrow and save as much money as I can for retirement.

I realize this did not explain anything and I was NOT in management. I am calmly stating what I saw.

If I do not think positive then I let Halliburton live rent free in my head.

Thanks and the answer will come soon enough on the why's.

That's cause you can get rid of the stupid people with no common sense. They forget the it's the low man on the pole that makes the money for the company and not the paper pushers. And lastly office people have smoother hands so when they get under the bosses deck it feels better than a guy in shop who has greasy and working hands. Lmao

It is the management vision and insight that got Halliburton where it is now.
