Except a lucky few whose store is large enough, this position no longer exists. They are changing the role of the main artist to Creative Lead and pushing away from tasks that the backups used to do, like floor art. With this position and others in my store, they are giving 6 months to find a new job in the company or leave and they are doing this instead of a severance package. I know artists globally are worried about their jobs so I wanted to give an update on my region. They claim on a conference call the full time position is safe, but I can't imagine there's much truth there.

I have assumed that the Back-up GA had been eliminated all across the country. After all, the MW was the first region to eliminate the backup-PBS and consolidate the remaining ones a few years ago. I feel bad that severance will no longer be an option though. Those that took it last year and ran were the truly lucky ones...
Take a look at Whole Foods careers page, go to Midwest and select Regional Office. Number of available jobs: ZERO.
Really glad we can get severance in NE.
@ HfuFsMc-crx , you too, eh? I was there for 9 years in marketing. Now I'm seeing the young ones they kept are now leaving. It kind of felt that they were eliminating the experienced ones i.e."older", in favor of the younger. I too am thrilled to be out of that nest of inconsistencies. I do feel for the remaining 13 MML's. It's like musical chairs, who's going to fall on their assnext?
I think the big question I have is when is the hard deadline for NorCal MML's layoffs? FP 10? And if they are offering severance? I am beyond happy to be out of a hostile working environment but a still a little bitter that I was stepped over for that role after 15+ years of service and it was instead handed over to tm's who had been with company less than a year. Favoritism and politics at its finest.
They did this to us in September in NorCal. Now they are further eliminating MML positions.
This is not surprising at all. Marketing TL and TMSL will be metro in the short-term and will probably be completely gone within the next 2 years.
Comps are in the negative. How else do you think the big shots are going to keep the ship afloat?
Marketing has gone metro in sp with 1 marketer having up to 4 stores. Up from 2 stores each
I don't know why people are still acting surprised. We've know this since the fall - if you are in metro the marketing tl positions will go from store to a metro position, back up GAs will no longer exist, the main GA will spend most of their shift printing signs given down by regional or global, and TMSL will move from a store position to a metro. Everyone on here keeps acting as if they have new info, but honestly this has all been discussed before with quite a bit of transparency. I remember hearing about the aforementioned in the fall and it was expected to be implemented in 2016.
