If you have a figure in your head you often just refer to the finer decimal places. It's a silly basic error that has been made numerous times.
It still doesn't escape the fact the error was made by inspection, but the scrutiny has been placed on the machine shop.
QA have also made all the errors with the documentation. A QA department that doesn't have the faintest idea about the job.
He wrote 5.002 FIVE times! How do you read your mic and write the wrong reading 5 times? Blatant copying is how.
An inspector got his numbers mixed up.
On the drawing the dimension was 5.200-5.205. He wrote down 5.002 on the 100% inspection sheet.
The fact 5 components also have identical dimensions was also called out as lying. "Pencil whipping" is the quote for quickly falsifying documents.
Management don't understand that CNC machines are highly accurate and repetitive.

Such a big ordeal for what is just a minor error. The shopfloor have become the scapegoats for horrendous management for years.
How on earth have so many useless people ended up with good jobs? Management know nothing about management, QA know nothing about quality......
It is them who have been found out for not doing things right for years, yet the panic has turned to the machine shop guys.
More people need to go and replaced by the right people for the job.
