Thread regarding Kmart layoffs

Anyone notice indications prior to a store closing?

Has anyone noticed anything in particular that has been odd or a 'new procedure' and then realized your store was on the closing list? I am wondering because I am sure all of us who browse this forum are wondering what to look for in case we should jump ship.

  1. Did your store hours of operation change?

  2. Did you experience severe 'labor and budget' cuts

  3. Did your pharmacy start opening less and less?

  4. Did you have to audit seasonal items you don't normally have to?

  5. Do you receive items from other stores a little at a time before it becomes a large transfer?

The store number where it came from would be printed on the package label. Also most of us wouldn't know how to look up the Ebita and would be chastised for asking.

We've seen some come in UPS with the other store's number listed on it.

The only way to know is to check the stores EBITA and when the lease is up. If the store has a negative EBITA and the store lease is about to expire. If the store has a big negative EBITA the store may close before the lease is up.

I am curious about #5. Do transfers come from a regular truck? Because our regular truck is already weird. How would we know the difference?
