My boss at Intel told me that Murthy didn't do any layoff at Qualcomm. I don't believe it. Can you please provide me some data/links about layoff when this guy was there?

Murthy probably didn't do it personally. He would consider that sort of thing "grunt work" that is beneath someone of his standing and intellect. Layoffs at QC are coordinated between HR and legal--directors with manager input, VPs, and probably a few other higher-ups. A lot of it is based on getting rid of people considered "redundant," too expensive for their rank among similarly skilled engineers, etc. Also, they have to consider that the pool of "RIF-ees" reflects their work force as a whole w/r/t gender, race, ethnicity, age, etc. so they don't get sued by people claiming EEOC issues.
