Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Is Speery Canada on the wrong path?

Originally I thought our operations management made the right decision to rid the company of all University educated Engineers working in the field cuz oil companies want hands on guys, right?

first time in history we have less than 50 percent market share in SAGD drilling. Im beginning to think we'd be better off keeping them and laying off the guys with only high school.

I hope Sperry doesn't close in Nisku... I wouldn't be arrogant about it since Venezuela has 3-4 Directional companies, while Canada has more Directional companies in the market than I count on my fingers and toes.

In Venezuela, Sperry can make money, even though Venezuela is behind on the bills. Canada, Sperry has less than 12 months to turn things around.

Sperry Canada will never close down. They only have one branch in the whole country. If they haven't pulled fully out of Venezuela yet, Canada is safe.

Doesn't matter what Sperry does in Canada, the place is rumoured to be closed regardless of all this huffing and puffing.

You can read a text book and run a fast food place or a Walmart but I don't want to be on location with anyone that learned their job from a book. Degree or not they should start at the bottom and move up so that when they make decisions they know what they are doing. We have a lot of management with fresh papers and no oil field knowledge making decisions about things that they don't know anything about. You can't just make a new burger when you screw up here.

That's why we don't have anyone with an MBA running stuff here. Do you think we would have rid of all the minorities if management had an education.

Experience always trumps skills in the great white north. Let's make sure it stays that way!

Didn't i hear something in the news about a down turn in the oil and gas industry? I bet if there was drilling would slow down too or maybe it wouldn't. Also for the poor folks with no mobile devices that like to cry about speeling. ( They have a mind of their own and i am not going to waste my time trying to get it to keep the correct speeling or go back and forth between two keyboards. )

Any type of finger ring should never be worn at the rig site.

Also, Sperry is spelled with two R's not two E's. Your an idiot. Don't need a university education to know that.

Education has nothing to do with it. It's about Tools, Technology, and Service. If you think filling the field with pinky rings will bring back market share, you are very mistaken.
