Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Asshats in leadership.

Yeah we know you STL's make 70K a year plus bonus+benefits+stock options+more. And you all keep pounding your drum "keep working team members." Then you come on this website and you show us: you guys all love wiping your asses with team members. "f--- team members" and "you guys keep working so i can live the easy life." You guys: STL's and Shifty's. You are the reason that 100's to 1000's of whole foods team members are miserable and looking for other jobs. So go ahead and pat yourselves on the back; You have proven Whole Foods might as well be Wal-Mart. The level of STL stupidity is incredible. If shifty's had to do the labor of the store... there would be no store. You guys lack basic skills!!! But you can write one hell of a bullshit email.

Agree with the other answers, STL make over $100k and up to $160k, salary alone, EVA & $$ to the bottom line adds bonuses that you don't want to know about. Food safety scores should be tied to STLs bonus structure. ASTLs & STLs are gonna have a rude awakening once all those TLs are let go. I see closing stores, workman comp claims will skyrocket and health department will down departments with ease in the very near future.

re: @HS5hqD6-3qak "I encourage all of you unhappy TMs to find your happiness elsewhere, somewhere, anywhere! Life is short so why keep a job you hate?"

You know that's not how jobs work, right? I have a job to pay my bills and stay housed and survive, not to "find happiness". This type of disconnectedness from the working class lives of TMs is exactly why the company is doing so badly right now. Management is out of touch.

Here in FL I have personally known ASTLs that started in the high 50s, about 5 years ago. They were TLs starting in the ASTL training program. I don't think starting pay for an ASTL-in-training has gone up much since then. Someone who has been an ASTL for a long time could definitely be making 90-120 large. And then you have EVA bonuses, which could be a little, or a lot, depending on how good the store is doing, and how many ASTLs are in the store splitting their part of the pie.

-1gmx, I love what you have to say, and every bit of advice you gave about what a great job should provide is why I left wfm. It's a hole of stank and man, am I ever glad that I left that place.

Stls don't make 70k. That is astl starting salary. Stls make 90-120k/year

Oh! Ouch! Well I guess you told me! Guess I should just quit this job because you don't think I deserve it.

Oh, but wait a second? Hmmm, let's see, after all of these years at WFM am I well paid? Check. Do I actually like my job? Check. Do I feel like I bust my butt and earn that check (almost) every day? Check. Is this job pretty much as good or better than any job I have had in my life? Check.

All of us (or at least most of us) need to work at some sort of a job to pay the bills and I have not found anything better in the last decade in my area. Seriously. Instead of bucking the system you could instead learn how to get along within the system. Find a place you like and excel at something. Move up, get raises, get more benefits, make a better life for yourself...you can do it, you can make a decent living and it does not make you a sellout or an 'asshat.' You do not have to stay on the bottom floor of life.

@ejh I think anyone making $12 an hour or less probably leaves with no hesitation when whole foods turns ugly for them. The people posting on here that are so angry are those of us who have dedicated years to a company that no longer values us. We have all earned our raises through years of hard work, taken on more and more responsibilities, and now we feel stuck because any job we take elsewhere is a pay cut. But s*** rolls downhill as the saying goes, and things continue to get more miserable for the hard workers at store level because of the incompetence, arrogance, and bad decisions from management.
