Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

DWEP layoff process start in September of this year. Biggest layoff of any BU.

Have worked there for 14 years and was told at my bosses daughters HS grad party I have 50/50 chance. He is announcing his retirement first week in August. Ugh, we all knew this was coming, but having your boss tell you it actually makes it undeniable. He would not give a number but said it will be the biggest reduction in force by percentage and number of employees since we started this as a company.

Hey, do the math. What projects require the highest oil prices? Those with high capex (high cost wells), high opex (boats, choppers), which forecast high rates with rapid declines. E.g deep water. It is easy as pie to defer projects in DWEP while focusing on Bigfoot recovery. Why invest in an SBU that can't run a simple project? CVX has zero money and projects elsewhere have costs which are a fraction of DWEP.

That's interesting,-rei - Every consideration of alimony (spousal support) In Texas that I know of is based on "spouse seeking support is unable to earn enough income to provide for basic needs". I would consider you a pretty pathetic case if you work for Chevron and that is your situation. You should probably be eligible for Foodstamps also, dear. Seek all the help that you can get sweetheart, you need it.

Get ready to have people here call you a deadwood loser if you get cut. MCBU had a significant cut in April. Hope your wife doesn't divorce you.
