Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Joining segments; good or bad?

Do all agree that joining segments, having teams taking on double the load, will propel SLB into a dominate Service Co. when the boom hits in late 2018? Or do you agree that when it does boom, employees that survived the bloody axe will leave in drones to other jobs?

All the yes men/women that do what they are told just to climb the ladder will stick around for the next round of promotions. The true performers that make things happen are already looking to get out. The transformation is failing and the increasing burden to the field due to process overload is crushing. Those with Triple A ratings, true hi-pots need to have their resumes up to date and start looking now. The exodus is starting!

My guess, and it will be higher in varies segments, but an overall 40-50% of current employee's in NAM will leave in droves (or will be trying). SLB showed a bad face to the American Worker the past 18 months. They have laid off over 30,000 people, gave the CEO over 6 million in Stock option bonus in Jan 2016 (along with 5-6 other top ranking SLB's), furloughed each Qtr, & bought 3-4 companies. I will add the other 2-3 majors haven't faired too well either. If a smaller company in American wanted to embark on the next boom, now is the time to get to work because the possibility of success is better than any bust/boom in history.

It's highly demotivating for the employees and they will leave in droves

agree, when and if things pickup the ones left will be running from SLB to greener pastures. Just a continuous cycle. On the next boom, look for NOV to be the one that makes great strides...

I think they will leave in droves,if not they should. They don't care about anything except the almighty dollar. They have already lost a lot of there experienced ppl and will probably lose more before all this is over. They have ran the bit division from being #1 down to #4.

The employees will leave in droves, for better jobs that pay competitive wages with less stress. SLB doesn't value their employees and could care less what your work/life balance is even though they keep spouting that they do. I wouldn't recommend working at SLB unless you are desperate for a job.
