Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Transparency? WHAT transparency?

You know, for a company that loves to tout how transparent it is with their employees, it sure has been quiet from our CEO's and other company leaders for the past 6 months. It's like they KNOW they're screwing their workers with every move they're making, and they're too wimpy and self-involved to even talk to us about it. It's pathetic and even without them saying a word, it speaks volumes about what they think of us. "Conscious leadership" my a$$.

And yes, I'm looking elsewhere for employment. I really believed in this place and thought it was different. But after 10+ years of going above and beyond with my work because it made me proud and I felt like WFM had my back, it has become clear that is no longer true. And maybe it never was.

Yes, definitely look elsewhere. The corporate culture of WFM is rife with hypocrisy and is utterly corrupt. Who wants to be associated with a company whose CEO associates with a sexual predator(Gaffni), that rips off customers deliberately (weights & measures scandal), blatant nepotism, sexual shenanigans. This has all been going on for a long time---only now it's catching up with them. Sad thing is, the top brass have been planning their escape route for a while now and readying their golden parachutes. Take care of yourselves people---hope you all find a new and better place for your hard work and talents!

The entire charade is laughable. Each new Wegman's, Sprouts, Publix and Central Market is another nail in the coffin. Costco and Sam's keep adding ever more natural and organic products. It's going to get worse before it gets better I think, because the royals will not step aside and the board (which is not very independent) will need to be replaced to force the issue. Eventually things will deteriorate to the point that activist shareholders will elect their own directors who will then summarily FIRE the global and regional executives and put a few turnaround specialists in charge of the entire unified company. That's my prediction. This company is like Kodak, once the top name in its industry and now...nothing. Its time has past and there is no further point in going on.

Speaking of florida region, you should have seen the show put on by regional to install to puppet STLs at the fort laud. And south beach stores..they had like a communal interview with TLs from both stores interviewing the 5 or 6 applicants.the TLs from one store already said no to one guy so regional had to convolute the whole process..but i dont think anybody from florida regional is having "relations" with the applicants...

Just like Apple, the glorious days for WFM are over and you don't have to be a psychic to see that coming! You have regions like Florida and the South that are run like a monarchy - Hello, this is not Britain! All positions are just handed over to the folks with the right group type. What happened to progressive and getting positions on merit by qualified people.

Shareholders matter and will make the necessary business decisions going forward. RPs already refused to swap regions due to personal ego but have no trouble moving team memberss around at will. VPs refuse to relocate due to fear of being outed or forced in a different role like the one that just left the SW Region to go Global. 365 and counting...

It's so true. Whole Foods is no different than any other companies. Worker's must look out for themselves. It's not like it used to be.

What happens when you reach the Peak of Mount Everest? This company lost it the most they added that layer of two Vice Presidents of operations. What have those folks added since they started making big money? Absolutely nothing. Now add the red tape from the regional non performing presidents who are never held accountable till the coming of Jesus Christ. The good thing though is that investors can see through all the games and they are having none of that, Values nolonger matters!
