Or there are people who work here because they have families to take care of and a paycheck in a bad place is better than no paycheck

Anybody stupid enough to be working here deserves what they get. This place has been on the ropes for years, and the public is angry about the billions that get wasted on these shi t schools. If you haven't left yet, it is because you are either incredibly stupid or incredibly greedy, and hopefully future hiring managers will tell you so.

There is such a cultural cancerous ineptitude, no attempts at making this a viable institution are a waste of resources. Buyer beware.

That doesn't sound good for workers or students--in either case. Apollo Global Management has much more leverage. They don't have to take the deal if APOL does not meet certain benchmarks. If they do take over, they have no necessity to make the business stay the same size: they make money by stripping out assets, downsizing labor costs, and selling it to someone else.
