Managers in the upstream oil & gas business have no issues with widespread layoffs. To them it's just part of the business. No big deal. No industry, has adopted to, and resorted to widespread layoffs like upstream oil & gas industry. You can blame it on commodity prices but really it is a lack of vision by those in charge.
Interesting article and correct in most circumstances. Theme of the essay is, " Layoff is a predatory fraud committed by those who CAN layoff against those who CANNOT. It's not necessary." The only caveat I would give to management is that when you shut down a specific operation, then it would be difficult to keep all of the employees. There is no live link. I had to copy and paste the web address into a new browser window. Any one is delusional if they believe that Noble senior management gives a rat's assabout employees.
Cannot get to whatever you are citing.
