Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Katy MCE continued cuts

I was let go Monday from Dyna Drill after 9 years. It's now all about the budget. Names are given to HR from decision makers far above the center managers. I was one of the higher paid people for what I did. I had good SLP3 reviews, it didn't matter. If and when things get better SLB won't be able to keep up.

It's all about the bottom line. The Schlumberger culture is HORRIBLE!

I cannot understand how employees with many years of service with company would be let go, and then replaced a couple months later with inexperienced person. My history was one of dedication, hardwork, and great reviews. How is this possible? I would have agreed to less pay, but was not even offered opportunity to keep my job.

Help me understand.

What is the rough figure of your salary? I think you might be too self-impressed about your old salary.

Being a cheap third grade employee or a cunning manager are your best bet to survive in these times.

These Oil and Service companies are on total survival mode right now. Most made the same choices as they did in 2008/09 bust and it bit them in the ass 2Q head count reductions are in full force. HR will continue to pick and prog at departments till exp. come in line with revenue.
