Thread regarding Noble Energy Inc. layoffs

Management has not suffered at all for their actions and bad decisions and that disgusts staff.

Had the company layed off the same or greater percentage of management at all levels as they did regular staff, there would not be this much disgust and distrust. Management is the main factor in the company's state of affairs. It is not just outside factors. They hired and promoted unwisely, give too much money to top management who made and continue to make very bad decisions. And a lot of management and supervisors do not really work. Everyone knows there will be severe downturns in this industry. You plan for it or you don't weather downturns well if at all. Plus it is just stupid to pay too much for properties or to deliberately run bad economic forecasts. The rank and file are being punished for the sins of management.

In my outrageous Noble experience, there was a manager for 2-3 worker bees. I've never seen anything like it, and it is no wonder Noble looks like one of the worst companies in O&G right now.

I agree with the statements here. I have seen Noble drive off or fire highly competent people who did not buy into the "party line" that breakthrough thinking would be the ultimate answer. Instead Susan rewards lackeys with positions like Director of Business Innovation and a directorship for the manager of geoscience computing when neither have any clue as to how to do their job properly. The nepotism stinks to high hell and the most casual observer would notice. Senior management (Directors and SVP's) included are only interested in keeping their ego's and bank accounts fed. The middle managers tow that party line or they are out.
