Layoffs are happening again. HR has started the familiar routine of picking on a team member with just above average ratings and asking why he can't be let go. There is a quota to be met and most directors are to scared of their own survival to fight and protect their teams.

To BCG: Do your job. Get rid of the CTO as of yesterday. Period.

3ixw you are spot on. There is too much baggage beyond sr. staff mgr and certianly beyond directors. I would say 90% all the people at or above director in Q must be axed. They do no work and get their friends in at high pay

Attrition: The skilled, talented QCOM engineers are leaving as they should and as is their right as free human beings. All that remains of the skilled and talented engineering workforce at the QCOM are those who, for whatever reason (valid or invalid), choose to stay. Best of luck to them.

The rest of the employees at QCOM are inflated, high-title, arrogant, no-people-skills personnel (most of whom have lost any vestige of an in-demand skill set and are now totally obsolete). These high-title types choose to stay because they most likely could never get that title/position in a new company (maybe a couple of them could ... e.g., Murthy). The other low-level/mid-tier engineers who remain are low-skilled, hanger-on types who will contribute very little or nothing to moving QCOM forward as it desperately tries to reinvent itself and make a business case for itself in the new global economy.

Sooner or later, everyone sits down to a banquet of consequences ...

I will agree with news partially since this is true for CWF. BCG want to cut all CWF by end of this financial year.

There won't be any additional layoffs. Attrition is already too high. People are leaving o. Their own.

Another layoff is inevitable with business being down 20%. It is just a matter of when.
