pinky ring be gone... POOF
That is just crazy talk. You my friend are delusional.
F$$king rights!!! The office got it right and eliminated these guys from the field. People with schooling have no business being in the field. End of story.
I agree.
Stay classy Halliburton Nisku!

Sad to see this once great division in Canada fall apart like this, and resort to name calling.
yap yap yap loosers thought that being ambitous and getting university was smart... smart guy has no job now...
Translationing?
It is very rare to find a person that has a strong understanding of a drilling rig & what goes on downhole, while also being formally educated. Both are valuable. Is one more then the other?
As a DD, you are expected to know more then how to slide. Well control situations, Drilling fundamentals, Rig I.Q are things a DD is EXPECTED to KNOW WELL.
A Fresh out of school DD who has never seen a rig, lacks basic understanding of how things are done. He may know the theory of how to slide, but put the break handle (or joystick) in his hand & WTF!
Don't get me wrong, university is great. But if I had my choice of a DD, give me the high school drop out with 10 years on the handle!
Whiney loosers haha no job whiners
I remember 5 years ago the management treated new hires well if you had an engineering degree. When that management left, the new team resented those with engineering degrees. There is this culture of retaliation towards engineering degrees now these days.
The directional drilling industry around the world is headed towards a professional culture, while Nisku is fighting back.
Sperry needs to go..eh
Agree that the educated will find it easier to transition. Don't think that is why you would want your current DD and MWD workforce to be lacking university.
It's bad business.
Original poster should DEFINITELY be fired. Must be a cement or completion hand. Over at Sperry everyone is educated (certainly not dumb enough to write something like that).
People with education will ultimately find it easier translationing into other work. Grease monkeys, who only know how to pull wrenches, are limited in vast amounts in vocational settings. Whoever wrote the original post should thank God they are still around b/c chances are, they would be hard pressed to find work outside of Walmart.
good they will need it looking for new jobs asswipe
At least the "book smart dweebs" know how to use proper grammar...
Why not both?
