A wee reality check people manufacturing in the uk for oil and gas is over being owned by an American company that has no interest in what you can or can't make ,there only interest is money which will be the final nail in the coffin . Singapore and Carrollton will be the last ones standing sing maybe paid off 20% but how many were full time or unskilled there been too much investment in sing to pull the plug on top of that its protected at the very top they just sub the parts they can't make .
there was a huge lay off in Singapore last month. about 20% of the manufacturing and technology got hit. Singapore is not immune to layoffs
Laffayette and Arbroath are approximately the same size and far smaller than Carrollton or Singapore , so out of any of the HCT plants, these would make most sense to close.
When oil recovers and it will recover. They will need all the plants they can get. They might shut down some of the smaller plants like Lafayette but I doubt they would shut down the bigger plants.
Not true. Well at least for Carrollton. Arboroath could close, same
For Lafayette. Probably only 2 that would remain would be Carrollton and Singapore. Carrollton would do the major engineering and testing
Of New products. And any of the complicated stuff. Singapore would do the cheap easy stuff since they have mostly unskilled labor. Almost everything they do is bought outside. They just do final assembly
Carrollton will not Close. Too much invested here. We will just become the custom shop.
Carrollton ain't gonna close. We will just become the custom shop. All the easy crap will be made in Singapore. Engineering and testing will be kept in Carrollton also. Why else do you think they keep building testing facilities.
carrollton next
Anyone notice no layoffs in Singapore ?? 2 + 2 = 4
