I'm current in this position. I feel that it is an ops manager role but sup on the title for less pay. Manager but not really a manager, Manager on duty. It's good to have this role therefore the IS can do their job and the tech lead can sale their butt off. At a tier 4 store it isn't possible to due so. Be there and done that, never wanna go back. IS at tier 4 is total crap, cant get everything done and same goes for tech sup.

Check out the big brains on Brad! He's a smart dude. Had the facts you need! Man! Who would have imagined Grade 5! You guys are all buying new houses I bet.
Don't stress when the merger is sealed. Then worry about the restructure staples don't need two of the same stores.
While all three are technically a grade 5 pay grade (which means all positions are lateral and equal on paper), the ops supervisor is generally considered higher than both the CPC and Tech Supervisors. This is primarily because the ops supervisor has MOD responsibilities. They are also 3rd in line to receive store keys (under GM and SM), which means they are guaranteed key holders. CPC and Tech Supervisors can only hold keys if deemed necessary for business reasons by the DM and FLPM (This will usually only occur if a store has an empty Ops Supervisor, SM, or GM spot.)
The Ops supervisor is ultimately the one responsible for total store merchandising, total store audit compliance, store inventory counts (along with the IS) and POG compliance, as well as whatever else the GM and SM don't feel like doing. The nature of these duties gives them store wide authority.
Tech and CPC supervisors are considered specialists in their departments and generally have a great deal of input relating to the matters of customer issues, associate schedules, or department operations in their respective departments. However, because the Ops supervisor essentially acts as a manager when the GM and SM are not in the building, and since Ops supervisors are apart of the keyholder team of the store, they by default have the okay to supersede decisions made by either the Tech of CPC supervisors, so long as they are exercising sound judgement and are doing so to better the needs of the business.
The exception to this is that an Ops Supervisor will not have permission to write up, or in any way formally discipline either the Tech or CPC supervisor due to the fact, as previously mentioned, they are technically lateral.
