NetApp is a perfect analog for SUN. While SUN tried to force feed Solaris and SPARC to customers the industry moved on to Linux/X86. That baggage doomed SUN to a fire sale. NetApps baggage is even greater. Firing employees, selling buildings and forcing customers to adopt its version of the future as proven by SUN is not a recipe for success.
The end of their fiscal year will see a massive exodus of those who remained to collect their last commissions and those who are left will suffer the death of a thousand cuts over time.
NetApps technology doesn't scale and neither does it's culture. Perhaps George Kurian is taking lessons from his twin bother at Oracle in how to dismantle a company. NetApp is now the best place to not work.
