I moved from a city to live in Sidney and work at Cabela's. The company for the most part was wonderful to work for and my department a dream in family matters and personal matters. The city of Sidney, however, is a complete sh--hole. For far too long this "housing crises" has left vulnerable families in really crappy positions. I've watched countless employees move their families to Sidney only to turn around and go just to get out of the nightmare housing. It's one thing to live in the middle of nowhere with no entertainment or activities. It's quite another to have to do it in unsuitable housing. Untrustworthy landlords, dangerous properties, properties that are filthy and falling apart, properties that should be vacated, not rented, and not one city official gives a damn. I've watched coworkers stand and try to fight the only to find that the worthless judges side with the absentee and neglectful landlords each time. Sidney, Nebraska is in line for a rude wakeup call. I'm thankful for the position I had with the company but in all honesty as this buyout looms and seems to be more and more imminent I can only hope that many of these landlords who put so many through so much hell finally get what they had coming to them when those properties continue to rot, but at no profit to the degenerates. Cabela's tries to help by building houses at the starting cost of $222,000 for an unfinished basement and house without a fenced yard... how many of the people that you've relocated to this sh--hole are paid enough by you to afford one of your "relief" houses? Who will buy all your relief houses when Cabela's closes and there's not a reason to be found to keep suffering in this sh--stain?

Nailed it on the city officials and judges protecting the local vultures. Corrupt city from the core.
I agree with the outlook on Sidney. When the winds blow maybe the town will go with it. The Realtors in town are just as bad as the landlords. They sell homes that they know have defects and do not disclose to those moving into town. ( they protect the " Sidney Originals with deception"
Then when you try to sell you home to get out the vultures try to screw you. A bad situation that will come home to roost very soon !
The corporate people that are left will be cut to 32 hours and only paid for 32 not 40 like you are used to just like they are doing in the retail stores so have fun paying your bills with less money.
They'll tell you it in the handbook in case you don't know about it.

Beats Flint
Sidney is not that bad if you like outdoors. It surely beats some concrete metro center.
