What I find so sad is looking at other companies on this site that don't have nearly the amount of miserable employees. What they should have done was remove more directors and promote those actually doing the work before laying off the majority of the workforce. So much knowledge has walked out the door it does not appear this company can recover. Executive management either doesn't know, doesn't care or are just waiting to move on to their next opportunity. So sad for a once great company.

Correct, Designers USED to have longevity here as did Engineers but no longer as the useless AKC is the ruling party. BTW, real engineering skills left this building many years ago. They are just project managers now. All real engineering gets finalized in China.
You now must be gay or a super boot licker or both to survive here. Talent, hard work, who cares about that, we can farm that out.
It's tough to comment on how Tower people get treated when you're exiled to the DC but it sounds like they are screwed as well in this hell.
They are failures who have far exceeded you and do decide your fate. enough of the wishy washy feel good crap. your'e about to get a dry ass reaming by mandingo in HR, whilst your boss looks on in utter delight at your humiliation.
To all you who are downsized in the next few days: Remember you have created successful toys that brought joy to children during your career. Also, remember those in management, who have decided you are no longer needed, have never created any successful toys. For the most part they are failures in this industry, and not fit to decide your fate. So you have not failed, the failures above you have. You are just paying the price for their failure. You are better than they are.
to all you beloved engineers... you ARE creative designers you just use diodes and resistors as your palette...great engineering and great design requires courage and taking risks.
this place is a fear cage and risk taking feels unsafe nowadays
if you do try to be creative it is meet with so much resistance you get burnt out !!!
and if you speak out with courage your laid off by managers that lack integrity.
Mattel Sucks and will sink into the abyss. The employees deserve better, present and past.
Seems the designers are the most unhappy and respond on the blog frequently ........."the place no longer respects/rewards talented, hard working designers"
Truth is the place no longer respects/rewards talented, hard working ANYBODY! Maybe designers keep responding because they are the only group with any longevity that is left?????
I thought there were still a few engineers......
Age only counts against you here if you're an actual worker. If you're a so called manager & about you're safe. Just look at them, Goodman, Swisher, Takeyasu, Carlson, I could go on & on but why.
This place is sinking anyway so who cares.............the place no longer respects/rewards talented, hard working designers who have survived here because of how much/long they produced product that sold & generated profit, instead your longevity is held AGAINST you. What a travesty.
One thing about those "little slabs of veal" - I've overheard them openly say things to each other (while patting themselves on the back) about how longer term/older employees are outdated, useless, dinosaurs etc. and that it really IS "time" for them to go. Little bastards with their liberal half-assed educations and sense of entitlement seem to forget who put and kept these companies in place to begin with. Good luck to them all (at half pay) with their haughty all-knowingness while they contribute to the demise of great companies all over the country. Good thing that it's just a job to them because guess what? It's temporary!
It's just a job to them. There is no more dedication and pride. It's just a job.
I wonder if the young-ins that have recently joined the fold feel the same way or are they just ignorant little slabs of veal with a false sense of security thinking mattel is the best thing since the invention of the wheel?
