Do you know that NetApp monitors this site, and in fact summarized the activity (mostly the positive stuff) on this site in the March 1st layoff social media summary?
It has been therapeutic to read these posts, and important for people who were discarded to have their say. The blow was especially hard as the betrayal came from a company that has made its positive, people-centric CULTURE its BRAND.
Upon the recommendation of a friend, I started reading The Joy of Not Working by Ernie J. Zelinski. It is an easy read that everyone in the Silicon Valley Work Camp should read. By laying us off, NA has unwittingly given us all an opportunity to question the prescribed American work ethic. I highly recommend the book -- it is an easy, fun read that will make you feel better about not working -- even if it is only for a while.
I hope that everyone is feeling the sting of being discarded ease as the days and weeks go by. Remember in corporate life, we are all pawns in someone else's game. Corporations have taken advantage of baby boomers' loyalty and work ethic, but millennials aren't buying it, so when as we leave the workforce, the game is changing.
Remember, you are so much more that your job!!
