Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Happy Rolling Layoff Week!

Even though today is national nap day I'm sure the EAC will not be handing out blankies and warm milk in the kitchen for cat naps as they will be preparing the exit papers and reduced severance packages for all of the underlings that will be sacrificed to save the upper managements failings and jobs. Remember that when they give you the line that your position has been eliminated to tell them to go f--- themselves.

Agreed. I know I'm slated to be laid off. I work long hours, I volunteer for projects but my boss either feels like I'm too old (I'm in my early 40's) or that I'm not "dressing for success" as he's made a couple of back handed comments regarding my appearance a few times. Already have a gig lined up elsewhere and just waiting for my start date. For now, I'll do my job but I'm not going to do anything beyond showing up. Not submitting a damned thing to anyone nor am I going above and beyond anymore. Screw the brainstorms, off sites, milestone meetings. I'm going to spend my time at my desk recharging my batteries for my next gig. SCREW THIS PLACE.

Why the hell would I argue against my lay off. At this point it would be a mercy. Though it would be normal for me to be angry and hurt when my time comes I'm quite sure that the best payback would be for me to succeed elsewhere despite being discarded by the company. In the meantime I will come in to work reluctantly and do a half ass job until they do. That's the American way!

Last year it was one week's pay per year you were employed. So, if you were there for 16 years you'd get 16 weeks worth of pay, which would equal, 4 months of pay. That's right... 4 MONTHS. Leave while you can.

Some extremely tight sphincters around ES today. We should get bonuses for the stress we're being put through.

Previous Poster: If you're boss is part of your layoff process then you should not expect a referral. Also, mattel by policy does not give referrals, only acknowledgement of the time you were employed there.

what ever is the smallest layoff package other companies are giving this year that's what Mattel will most likely offer

If your boss is not a total ass try to keep it civil if you want to consult or use as a reference in the future

take the 21 days to review the offer there is no rush the vacation pay will cover you for those 21 days

as for lawyering up ... I had a really good case but it seemed pretty hard to prove my case when the company is having so many lay offs in my group they are very good at manipulating new titles to make it look like a different job. Getting a lawyer opinion is a good idea if only to put your hopes to rest.

Good luck over the next weeks I hope this is just a false flag event for everyone !!!

I just hope they treat the employees with respect and allow them to say goodbye and not be walked out like a convicted criminal. So awful knowing what they are going through! Just know there are great opportunities out there filled with companies that value creativity, teamwork and their employees!

I think it was originally a month for every year you worked there, then 2 weeks salary per year, now it's probably down to a dry fist in the ass and a kiss on the back of the neck as they walk you out.

If you do tell them to F@#K OFF (which sounds so satisfying) do you still get your "reduced" severance package. And BTW - just how Reduced is it? They used to be pretty decent. The "retirement" package last year wasn't bad. Should have taken it huh?

Truth is, telling them to f__k off is a better bet than trying to argue any points with HR when they call you into the room. Their minds are made up and if you've been railroaded then by all means tell your manager/director/VP exactly what you want. They have to site there and take it. They are not allowed to speak beyond the basic why you're there sentence.

Agree 100% with previous poster. Tell them to F@#K OFF!
