Wake up people. Go look at the lists. COP is still bringing in H1Bs. Layoff a US citizen and bring in a foreigner. Let them stay 6 years and sponsor them for green card. They get all the benefits and made no sacrifice.

Your stupidity only proves how right I am. No I didn't receive Citizenship through marriage, nor did I ever hold any type of visa, I was born in this country you morons but have lived elsewhere. And yes other counties do have a lot of problems unlike here, where the main issue is education and family values, but you forget the fact AGAIN that this country is what it is because of immigration, those forefather you so proudly talk about came from somewhere they didn't just grow out of the grown, they fought Yes of course, but just because you have a long family line here and others don't, doesn't give you any more right for anything.

I personally don't bleed for any country to tell you the truth I take advantage of the opportunities I see, are given or build for myself, you are a fool to think anyone here expect those who make billions and pay their ways up get anything without effort. Almost no one gets anything on a silver platter, people work for it and if you didn't get it, it's because you don't deserve it. I personally didn't talk nonsense, you may see it like that but every country in the world has fought for what they have not only the US so don't give me that BS, also every country allows immigrants in even the sh**y ones, it's not a unique benefit. And yes some foreigners are smarter than most US it's a fact, not all but yes it's a large amount.

When a H1B worker is laid off the company has to relocate the worker and his family back to his original country. Thus, in the case of COP this means an expensive relocation back to Canada, India, China, or Venezuela. It makes sense that H1B workers would be safer that US Citizens or Greencard holders.

You H1B1 holders are still employed because legally COP cannot lay you off because Uncle Sam cut a deal with you and cop. You see your countries are sh--ty you and you left because you didn't like your government so since the US is nice enough they are willing to bring x amount of folks from other countries that are seeking asylum. There is no performance here you guys are just here running around like the help runs around. You are not better than the US citizens of his country. Don't you dare talk nonsense the very folks families have build this country in the past years. Don't bite the hand that feeds and just keep your mouth shut.

What a rant! You re probably an ex- h1b1 Visa holder that married a citizen and now you feel entitled to talk sh-- when you don't even bleed red white and blue. Your Venezuelan or Colombian your not Canadian or Russian because they know better than to shut their mouths and not leave these type of comments. Go back to your countries their is plenty of talent here in the US.

People in the US always complain that foreignesr keep taking their jobs and saying stupid sh-- like H1B holders get paid less than US Citizens, their Language skills aren't good, they are taking my job and bla bla bla..It ain't about paying them less is about skills, this sh--ty Colombians, Venezuelan, Chinese, etc etc are better skilled that your sh--ty US ass and no you are not more important to a company because you have a us passport. US citizens "uncultured one's" since I am a Citizen, lack the culture, the education and the broad mind that a foreigner brings to the table. Stop complaining about it, this country moves on immigration, if it weren't for that then only Indians would be running this place so YES F READ not only about H1B visas but WORLD HISTORY you dumb s, there is a WHOLE world out there. It is the country of opportunity, not opportunity to the local ignorant but to anyone who takes it. So if you can't do your job well don't blame your immigrant neighbor for it, it's your fault, you lack something the company needs, that's just it. The lack of culture in the US is by far it's greatest weakness, just look at the Idiot that has the highest % in the Republican Party, a "clown, racist fool" who thinks he can build a wall and stop illegal immigrants, this country is being laught at right now, but maybe it's what it's needed to wake up people, let's just hope people don't regret they selection. So stop blaming immigrants for your bad performance.

Pretty sure number of US COP expats working outside US > the US visa holders. And retain their $US pay almost 30 times local currency wages . Why to pay gringo when we can hire 30 local vatos for the same? Dont get started on the qualified/experience bs - I know some cant even tie their shoelaces.

H1B is a small part of a bigger problem that we hope he would fix. I amhoping he would bring the manufacturing jobs back from China and revamp the H1B system and bring back the IT jobs from India, Phillipines etc. A lot of people are willing to work but the wage inequality has to be fixed first...health care costs etc. Trump is winning because he is addressing the issues that matter. The Republican party whose economic ideology of trickle down economics is not feasible in a global free trade world and Trump recognises this.

The truth of the matter is I have worked for other oil and gas companies and COP by far keeps more H1B visas folks on staff than I have ever seen before. If you look closely lots of these folks came from OU or University of Houston. Cop, for some reason funnels these folks from these places to Conoco not sure why. This should be looked into because they have a high percentage of these folks still employed who aren't even us citizens. It ain't right and not everyone is entitled there are some folks who have worked hard to get where they got and it ain't right to lose your job to a Venezualan, Colombian, Russians or Canadians. They all have to f---ing go.

You guys are f---ing morons. Your government can't do jack sh-- to stop H1B workers. Here's a news flash, you f---tards. Corporations exist to maximize profits for their shareholders. Why the f--- should I pay your stupid, entitled ass to do the same job that Sunil over there is willing to do for half the cost? Guess what? I pay to train your stupid ass, and you could quit on me and take all that knowledge elsewhere. Sunil, on the other hand, quits and that f--- will get deported. Obama can't do jack sh-- to stop H1B's and neither can Congress. Anything they say to the contrary is just to get your stupid asses to vote for them. At the end of the day, corporate America funds these campaigns. You can keep your measly small little campaigns donations up your a--hole you worthless entitled f---s. Your money is hardly even a drop in the bucket so shut the f--- up.

How is it that we lay off US citizens and keep sponsoring visa holders? And it's still happening. Just look around. Those notifications get posted but you'll never run across them. And most never go back.

Who gives a sh-- about reading or becoming knowledgable about the H1B visas... You are missing the f---ing point. These folks need to be sent back.... These same folks send money back to their countries because the know the day is coming when they get sh-- canned. Send their asses back usually they sit around in meetings with their mouth shut and never say sh-- or contribute anything meaningful. Send them back and protect American jobs. There has been a surge of visas since Obama has become president and more deportations as well. Now it's time to send these visas folks home!

You need to read and be informed a little bit more. H1B usually last for 3 years and can be renewed for a period of 3 more years if the company want and if immigration approves that. In order for an H1b to obtain a green card is a difficult and costly process. First the applicant needs to send the application to department of labor and they will be saying if the person is good for that position or not. Then the employer needs to publish and add on any local paper offering the position and if nobody applied for the position the process continues but it can last two years or more depending if you have a higher education. So before complaining start reading a little bit about the H1b.

I understand your point but I would analyze it in a different perspective. I agree that the US should protect its own workers but to be balanced there are so many people from the US working abroad and making 20 times more than a local employee and nobody is complaining. I worked overseas for so many years but I do not remember anybody complaining about that. We are living in a global economy and everybody is benefiting from that. Second I would suggest looking the world map and look for the US and see that the US is part of one continent called America and that people from the US should not be the only ones called Americans because Americans is everybody that lives on the same continent. Third before complaining that somebody does not speak a good English take a Roxeta Stone and try to learn a different language by yourself. Usually people that complaints about this is because only knows one language and believe that English is the only language on the world; this is one of the reason why people from this country are way behind in education.

Unfortunately in a corporate world the people in charge do not think of the big picture "do what is best for this country and the citizens" they will always do what is best for their personal interest. A lot of incompetent managers and supervisors prefer to hire internationals with broken English so they can naturally feel superior ... It is a f---up system ...

Yes but they can send them back to their countries once their visas expire. They don't need to renew their visas send their asses back? This is what's wrong with this country when times are bad it's time to save American jobs and send those who aren't Americans back to their homes. It's as simple as that folks. Sounds sh--ty but it is what it is and that's why the next president needs to change this crap to not offer visas anymore especially to oil and gas companies.

I'm sure they abused the H1B visa. There are toxic work environments in ConocoPhillips (subsurface technology ...) with freak controls managers and supervisors most of thome don't even speak proper English. Unfortunately any person with a good head on their shoulders would not work for them. So this why they hire internationals with H1B so they can restrict them from changing employer. Specially in technology they hire people with little English so it is easy to manage (no one can express their thoughts properly ....)

Canadians are on L1. Why is it okay for Americans to stay in Canada and have the company let go of Canadians?

by

Post ID: @2dzr+GmTGMaf

They absolutely did there is a ton of H1B visas individuals hat range from engineers to geologist. There are several in if these individuals who should be sent back to Canada, Colombia, Venezualans, Chines, and Russians. When they are letting go American citizens with families they should absolutely send these individuals back. When times are good it is ok to have them here but only a small number of them should be there. There is also a strong correlation between the University of Oklahoma and Thea individuals come to this country to get an education which there is nothing wrong with doing. However ConocoPhillips should not be allowed to let go perfect American citizens who keep their money here in the US while these H1B visas individuals funnel money back to their countries. That's complete bullshit. I am pretty sure their sh--ty countries would keep us employed during a down turn.. We would be the first to go.

With questions like this I can see that you don't know anything about inmigration laws. Is a very difficult process to get a h1b Visa and actually companies can't underpay inmigrants. Before asking something like this please read first.
