Thread regarding Anadarko Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Go forth and prosper!!

Getting laid off was the best thing that ever happened to me. Forced/allowed me to rethink my career, get a fresh start in another direction. Turned out really well, and I shudder when I think I might have stayed at that big old company if they "let me". It's a big, exciting world with a million ways to make a living.

I appreciate your way of thinking as I was walked out yesterday morning from the Denver office after an agonizing morning of waiting for the phone to ring or someone to approach me and deliver the news. This has been a very painful process as I considered myself a good employee, worked hard, followed the rules, tried to learn new technologies and apply those methods to my job, and tried my best to provide quality work for the people and assets I supported. I can't say that getting layed off was the best thing that happened to me, but it certainly is a huge wake-up call exposing the realities of the oil and gas industry. Yes indeed, when my head clears, I will begin a new chapter in my life and carry onward as there will be piece when we are done. I send give good wishes and good luck to my co-workers and those friends who were also let go.

Thank you!!!! You are absolutely right! This may be the best thing that ever happened!

Fresh start indeed! Now onto something I feel more passionate about. Was tired of playing those mental games anyway!

I'm free.......
