There is life after a lay off. The oil industry will come back just as it always does and we will be able to pick and choose which company we want to work for. We are used to this happening and we all survive.....It is sad and scary but we will survive!

If it is happening in the field offices today it must be at the end of the day cuz everyone has left the office and headed into the field.

Getting laid off is not OK. Your finances and your career are likely to change trajectory. It will likely be harder on you the older you are.
This isn't fair. There is no fairness in the selection process. You can be sure that those who stay will tell themselves that they deserve to be kept on and you needed to go.
If you let it, it will make you bitter and angry. It will change your personality. Don't let it. This will pass and you will emerge better off but it will take time and then you will realize it when you are not expecting and you look back on the course of your life has taken. I have seen this with many of my friends.
To see yourself as better off, you may need to come to the conclusion that Anadarko is not all its cracked up to be.
Life is short. After the shock put this event in perspective-be thankful that you or your children do not have cancer, hopefully this is true. Tomorrow can only better.
