Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

This is BS

Right, Staples raises prices on customers without any manufacturer price increase to go along with it. It doesn't matter if the item is at a negative 50 or a positive 50 margin. Management and the margin team says raise it, you raise it and hope the customer doesn't complain and you're issuing credits like crazy.

Ron's just throwing his shit against the wall to see what sticks. The stock is in the gutter and he pretty much knows he is done unless the buyout goes through, which will buy him a little time.

My bet is the buyout fails, Staples pays out $250 million to OD, and Ron is removed. New CEO is chosen and looks to take Staples private. Some capital company or combination of thereof buys it and takes it private, the interm CEO walks away with $50-$75 million.

Can't wait for the shareholder meeting - it should be interesting this year.
