ROM Rep meeting and/or functional manager meeting

In an email from the GM of DWEP we were told to meet with the ROM reps and/or our functional manager. Does anyone with experience at this have any advice for those of us going through this for the first time? What are we supposed to do in these meetings? Are we supposed to plead our case for our job? Bring in some slides of accomplishments? Is it to discuss other job options? It is only 15 minutes so not sure what can really be discussed in that amount of time. I'm not really clear what I am supposed to do in these meetings. I filled out the GO400. That has my history. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Number one, you are there to get on their radar screen if they dont know you or your skill set. Next, you are there to make the job owner's short list of the 5 leading candidates. In order to accomplish that you must quickly and effectively explain exactly what your key strengths are and be able to cite examples where you delivered quality work ON TIME that met or exceeded objectives. Also address your ability to quickly learn and apply new techniques and workflows. You must get on the short list. Maybe you really are the best candidate, maybe 2nd or 3rd best. That short list is in a state of flux as the posting decisions play out. You can move up, but you rarely move down the short list. Always come prepared to cite your top five accomplisments in the context of business case over the last year or two. If you are a software or programming guru, dont emphasize button-pushing; do emphasize how you leverage these skill sets to bring value. In short, if I am the job owner, I want to know why I should hire you in a few short sentences. If I am a PDR delegate, Ivwan to know why i should strongly advocate on your behalf.

Whatever you do, don't follow the advice of deadwood like @GjuMd6s-kzx, who is preparing to be cut from the tree.

You can go to the dog and pony show and go through the motions. Most likely any position that is up for grabs already has someone in the click headed for that spot, so go ahead and pick all the positions you want. If you are in the click, congrats, if you are not, enjoy your 6 month vacation.

Seriously? You can't figure this one out? You are supposed to talk through the 4 jobs you plan to post for and explain why you would be a logical choice. Your ROM rep is the person that represents you when they fill these jobs so it's pretty important that person is on board with what you want to do next. Bring your GO-400 and explain very clearly what experience you bring to the table and why your experience makes you the best candidate for the jobs you plan to post for.

You're going to get fired.

Maybe you should go to the meeting with a flask and ask the manager if he would like a drink.
